When companies pay for training or a move, or some other expense, it’s common for them to require you to stay for a certain time afterwards in order for the company to recoup their investment in you.
Sometimes it’s a written contract and sometimes it’s just a verbal agreement. The question is, when you get a better offer, do you have to stay? Or do you have to pay back the costs in order to leave?
