General Manager Development

Fellow MT Listeners,

I have recently received additional responsibilities, moving from the head of engineering to the general manager of a product line. Can anyone recommend books or training for a quick and dirty jump start on getting started on some new responsibilities....particularly in the areas of sales and Marketing.

Getting Started Off Right

Congratulations on your additional responsibilities!
Here are some resources you may find helpful for your new responsibilities, though I cannot address sales and marketing specifically:

The First Rule for New Managers cast,
Jumpstarting Internal Relationships cast, and
the book "The First 90 Days."

WMARSHA1, thanks for the advice. Having been through the management ropes and different jobs, I am fairly familiar with these concepts. What I am really looking for more is domain specific recommendations for the newer fields of sales and marketing. Do you (or anyone else) have recommendations for these items.
