Mark - Regarding skip levels, do you see anything wrong with using pre-determined topics?
The agenda you suggest is very open ended. My VP is afraid there will be not much to discuss if it's left too open-ended. The VP wants to ask his directs for agenda topics.

Sure, there's no problem with that. I think if you use the same topics every time though, that will get stale (though having 2-3 topics that are standing items are fine).
If it helps the VP, go for it.
