Maybe we're being prejudicial here, she could have just had a bad moment and her babble centre kicked in. I know I've certainly Bambied enough times, brain goes blank and mouth goes into gear before the brain re-engages. Last time was a leaving speech when I changed job and moved department, my carefully prepared speech just evaporated.

Quite embarrassing for her, but keep in mind that she was on stage speaking to several thousand people. Even some of the most experienced public speakers have a difficult time addressing groups that size.
Once things start going wrong in front of a large audience like that, things quickly begin to snowball.

It is very likely she will recover quite nicely. In fact, this event might gain her so much recognition that someone will offer her a job. It will definitely give the young lady a solid answer to the "Tell me about a time you had to overcome adversity" question.
Additionally, her good looks will be an asset. We have all seen the studies of how physical appearance and having the corporate look affect hiring decisions.

I think it would have been the lesson.... did you see that morning show interview? She almost came off as indignant. "All MY friends know where Iraq is on a map!"

Amazingly after a few days to prepare and some coaching she was able to recite a fairly coherent 1 minute answer on TV.
I also feel sorry for the girl - this will haunt her for a very long time.
And in the flat world - she would be phoning her outsourced question response provider during the interview.
