Premium Content - access problems

Not sure whether this is the right place to post this, but I can't see anywhere else to do so. I joined up to the premium content special offer in late October - this included access to the Interviewing series. However, when I try to download the slides, I'm not allowed to. Can you explain why this happens and how it can be resolved? Many thanks in advance

I don't see anything wrong with your account ... you should have access to both the Premium and Interviewing Series content.

You may wish to try logging out and then logging back in ... I suspect this will resolve your issue. If not, let me know and we'll go from there.

Thanks for the fast response.

No, logging out and back in again didn't work - the dialogue box keeps prompting me for my password and then not accepting it.

This is not a problem for any other areas of the premium content, just the Interviewing Series section.

I'm having some issues as well, possibly related (although I don't have access to the Interview series due to being a monthly subscriber).

Sometimes I'm shown as logged in but the links to premium material are orange and link to the no access page. I log out and back in again, they turn blue and link to the actual content. Sometimes I'm shown as logged in with blue links to the content on the main page but if I open an individual entry's page the links are orange and pointing to the no access page.

I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.10 on Windows XP SP2 on 2 different PCs. I get the same whichever PC I'm on and whether I'm connecting to the internet via the proxy at work or directly via dialup from home.

I've also noticed that if I right-click on a link and select "Open in new tab" it works fine and opens the file but if I select "Save link as..." (to save the file for opening locally) I get a zero length file.

Could this be a Firefox issue?

Stephen,

It's not clear to me what the issue is, although it appears to be related to "cookies" being invalid. If you are clearing cookies in some fashion, that could have something to do with it. Other than that idea, looks like we have some research ahead of us.

Sorry for the continued issues!

I'm continuing to look at your account and things on our end, but haven't found anything yet. I'm curious, have you tried another computer (not that I'd expect you to) ... if possible, I'd love to know whether you have the same issue from another computer.

I'm not clearing cookies, Firefox is set to accept all cookies until they expire.

Just in passing, I have consistently had problems with Firefox in getting it to open PDFs, eg. where a site links to them - it often gives me a blank page.

Ditto where news sites embed videos. eg. if I want to watch the sports news at www.news.com.au, I open IE for that purpose... Firefox invariably won't work even after telling me it is downloading the right plugin.

Point being, I think the browswer itself has some issues.

Finally got round to trying this on a different PC, and it works (though it still doesn't work on my personal laptop).

Strange. But I got there in the end!

Open any pdf file
under edit---> preferences,
In the internet list, disable display PDF in a browser (Remove tick). This will automatically allow pdf files to download separate window when you use firefox. You can later save the file as required.

Stephen - does your issue happen after a long time of inactivity? I often leave the page open while I go do other stuff, then come back to a semi-logged in state. I simply login again and everything's fine.

It can happen after a period of not using the site or after a period of continuous use. Sometimes I log out and back in and evberything's fine, sometimes I log out and back in again thyen the links ont he front page are fine but if I go into a specific entry page (such as if the entry has aged off the main page) and the links to premium content are orange.

I can work around it so it's more of a minor annoyance than a major deal.
