Hello All --

I am in the final phases of interviewing for thee different opportunities.  What is the etiquette for informing these companies that I am receiving addional offers?  Is asking for a week in which to make a decision too much?

I am not playing these companies against one another.  I simply want the opportunity to receive and evaluate all three offers before making my decision on what will be the best fit.

Thanks for your input.

Each company's process / timeframe is a blackbox and out of your control. In the event you receive an offer (after stating your graditute) ask when they need your answer by. Then, it's reasonable to notify the hiring manager at the alternate company that you are currently considering an offer (give specifics) and your timeframe for deciding. Again, the timing of offers is not really something you can control. Just bring you A game to each opportunity . Best of luck - Sam

I agree with Sam.  Each company is going to move at a pace which you don't control.  Each company has a different number of candidates, interviews, decision-makers, etc.  As Mark says "Until you got something, you got nothing."  Unless and until you get an offer from the other companies, you can't assume you'll get one.  In fact, you should assume you aren't going to get one unless you do.  You can't weigh an offer until you get it.
Other than a thank-you note after interviewing, I would not contact the companies as the internal recruiter won't pass on that you have another offer and are thinking of taking it.  I've found in my own job-hunting, that companies move at their own pace and communicate at their own pace.  You will not be able to change that; and contacting them risks looking less than professional.
Good luck with the job hunt.  I'm on one myself.

Thank you both for the input.
The situation has worked itself out with the hiring timeframes for the positions being somewhat different.  This is now affording me a better chance to evaluate the offers.

John -- Good Luck in your search.  I can say 100% that the information I have received in the podcasts has made a big difference for me.
